Gary Thompson Gillespie (born July 5, 1960 in Stirling ) is a former Scottish football player .
Career
Gillespie began his football career in 1977 with Falkirk FC , where he was captain at the age of 17. This makes him the world's youngest captain. After just one year and 22 games for Falkirk, he moved to Coventry City in 1978 . He played for Coventry City for five years before joining the top English club and record champions Liverpool FC in 1983 at the age of 23 . After eight years with Liverpool, Gillespie moved to Celtic Glasgow in his native Scotland in 1991 . From 1994 to 1997 he played at Coventry City, his last station, where he was already under contract from 1978 to 1983. Gillespie participated with Scotland in the 1990 World Cup in Italy . The Scot completed a total of 13 international matches.
