Football League First Division 1904/05

The Football League First Division 1905/06 was the 18th season of England's top football league . It began on September 2, 1905 and ended on April 30, 1906.

The newly promoted Liverpool FC won the second English championship in the club's history with four points ahead of Preston North End . In addition to Liverpool FC, Bolton Wanderers were also the second newcomers to receive the class. Instead, Nottingham Forest and the Wolverhampton Wanderers had to move into the Second Division . These two clubs should be replaced in the following season by the two second division promoted Bristol City and Manchester United .

A total of 502 players were used, with Liverpool FC with 21 the fewest and Aston Villa with 33 the most players in league games. 177 newcomers opposed 147 footballers, who last came into play in the 1905/06 season. 14 players were able to play all 38 league games of their club.

Small Heath played under their new name FC Birmingham from this season on.

The championship team of Liverpool FC

The following table lists all the players who played in a league match for Liverpool FC during the 1905/06 season. It must be noted that in English football a minimum number of games is usually required in order to receive the official championship medal. Since there was uncertainty about the specific regulation before the introduction of the Premier League, all players who presumably did not receive a championship medal due to their low contribution were marked with an asterisk (*). The number of missions and the goals scored are given in brackets.
