Football League First Division 1989/90

The Football League First Division 1990/91 was the 92nd season of the highest English football league . It began on August 25, 1990 and ended on May 20, 1991.

Despite a deduction of two points, Arsenal FC won their tenth championship and distanced defending champions Liverpool by seven points. Of the promoted Leeds United , Sheffield United , AFC Sunderland only the club from Sunderland could not hold and relegated straight back to the Second Division . Due to a subsequent league expansion from 20 to 22 teams for the 1991/92 season, Derby County, bottom of the table, had only one other team to say goodbye; new to this should come from the Second Division Oldham Athletic , West Ham United , Sheffield Wednesday and Notts County .

A total of 467 players were used, with Arsenal having the fewest with 19 and Coventry City with 30 the most players in league games. 103 newcomers opposed 91 footballers, who last came into play in the 1990/91 season. 33 players were able to play all 38 league games of their club.

    The Arsenal FC championship team

The following list lists all players who played in a league game for Arsenal FC during the 1990/91 season. It must be noted that in English football a minimum number of games is usually required in order to receive the official championship medal. Since there was uncertainty about the specific regulation before the introduction of the Premier League, all players who presumably did not receive a championship medal due to their low contribution were marked with an asterisk (*). The number of missions and the goals scored are given in brackets.
