David White (born October 30, 1967 in Urmstone ) is a former English football player . He is best known for his time as a right-winger at Manchester City during the 1980s and 1990s.

Career

David White made his debut for Manchester City in the 1986/87 season. In his first season he made 24 appearances for his team. In the following seasons, Manchester became a fixture, scoring 79 goals in eight years. In 1992 he played his only game for the English national team, but he could not convince coach Graham Taylor of his qualities.

Towards the end of his career, he moved to Leeds United in 1993 and Sheffield United in 1995, initially on loan, then with a permanent contract. In 1999 the striker ended his career.

Alleged abuse against youth coaches

In November 2016, White and former clubmate Paul Stewart were part of a group of former soccer players who claimed to have been abused by youth coaches as young people . The Manchester City club then announced an investigation into the incidents.
