The Football League First Division 1952/53 was the 54th season of the highest English football league . It began on August 23, 1952 and ended on May 25, 1953.

The Arsenal won before the tied Preston North End 's now seventh English championship. Both newly promoted Sheffield Wednesday and Cardiff City could hold the class; instead, Stoke City and Derby County had to move into the Second Division . These two clubs should be replaced in the following season by the two second division promoted Sheffield United and Huddersfield Town .

A total of 544 players were used, with Burnley FC, West Bromwich Albion and Preston North End with 20 the fewest and Manchester United with 31 the most players in league games. 132 newcomers opposed 150 footballers who last came into play in the 1952/53 season. 15 players were able to play all 42 league games of their club.

    The Arsenal FC championship team

The following list lists all players who played in a league game for Arsenal FC during the 1952/53 season. It must be noted that in English football a minimum number of games is usually required in order to receive the official championship medal. Since there was uncertainty about the specific regulation before the introduction of the Premier League, all players who presumably did not receive a championship medal due to their low contribution were marked with an asterisk (*). The number of missions and the goals scored are given in brackets.
