The Premier League 2001/02 was the tenth season of the Premier League , which was hosted by the FA and was named FA Barclaycard Premiership from this season due to the new sponsor Barclays . At the same time, this was the 103rd first division season in English football. It started on August 18, 2001 and ended on May 11, 2002.
Arsenal FC won the championship. After winning the FA Cup five days earlier, they had their third double in club history and Thierry Henry was also the top scorer. For the first time in the history of the league, all 3 newly promoted Fulham FC , Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers were able to hold onto the class. Ipswich Town , Derby County and Leicester City had to relegate to the First Division .
