The National Division 2001/02 was the 88th season of the highest Luxembourg football league .

Defending champion F91 Dudelange won the third championship in the club's history.

Championship format

The twelve teams first played a basic round consisting of a simple round trip. Then the four best teams competed against each other in the master playoff. The remaining eight teams were divided into two groups, and played for relegation. The results from the basic round were taken along.

Each of these three groups was played again in a round trip. The last two of the relegation groups went down to the honorary doctorate .
