2. Lig Aategorisi 2001/02

The 2001/02 Süper Lig was the 44th season of the top Turkish league in men's football . The season opened on August 10, 2001, Beşiktaş Istanbul against Trabzonspor . Trabzonspor won the game in Istanbul 2-1. The championship ended on May 4, 2002 . Galatasaray Istanbul defeated Yozgatspor 5-0, with this victory Galatasaray became Turkish champions ahead of Fenerbahçe . Çaykur Rizespor , Antalyaspor and Yozgatspor were relegated this season.

For the 2001/02 Süper Lig, the 15 clubs remaining from the previous season were joined by the three promoted teams from the last second division season . The climbers were the first and second placed in the 2nd league Göztepe Izmir , Diyarbakirspor and the play-off winner Malatyaspor . While Diyarbakirspor returned to the Süper Lig after 14 years and Malatyaspor after 11 years, Göztepe managed to rise again immediately.

From this season onwards, the direct comparison was used in the event of a tie .
