Emre Aşık (born December 13, 1973 in Bursa ) is a former Turkish football player and coach.

Player career

Club career

Aşık started his professional career at Balıkesirspor . There he scored 7 goals in his first year as a defender . Many Turkish first division clubs became aware of him and Fenerbahçe Istanbul won the race for the player's service .

There Emre became Turkish champion once in three years. In 1996 he moved to İstanbulspor . Aşık spent his longest time in a club there at the age of four. Without a title win, the defender left Istanbulspor and signed a contract with Galatasaray Istanbul .

Aşık played most of his games at Galatasaray and was Turkish champions for the second time in 2002. In the summer of 2003 his move to English club Portsmouth FC broke due to an injury and he finally moved to Beşiktaş Istanbul . Thus Emre Aşık had played for all three big clubs from Istanbul . In 2005 Emre returned to Gala and in 2006 became champion again. After Eric Gerets was sacked and Karl-Heinz Feldkamp returned , Aşık had to leave Galatasaray on loan. He played at Ankaraspor for one season . After the season he came back to Galatasaray and played there for two years.

On May 16, 2010 Emre Aşık had his last game as a club player.

National team career

He played as a Turkish national player in 2002 at the World Cup in Japan and South Korea . Aşık was also nominated for the 2008 European Football Championship in Austria and Switzerland . On May 22, 2010 he finally ended his career in the friendly against the Czech Republic.
