The Virslīga 2002 was the eleventh season of the highest Latvian football league since it was re-established in 1992. It was hosted by the Latvian Football Association . The season started on April 7, 2002 and ended on November 9, 2002.

Skonto Riga became Latvian champions for the eleventh time in a row.

The eight teams each played against each other four times and played a total of 28 season games. Instead of bottom of the table, PFK / Daugava Riga was eliminated from the league for financial reasons.
