The Wyschtscha Liha 2001/02 ( Ukrainian Вища ліга ) was the 11th edition of the highest Ukrainian league in men's football . The season started on July 7, 2001 and ended on June 11, 2002.

Fourteen teams played against each other twice on a total of 26 match days, divided into a first half and a second half.

Defending champions Dynamo Kiev and Shakhtar Donetsk dominated the season. On the penultimate day of the match, the two undefeated teams met. Shakhtar replaced Dynamo as leaders with the 2-0 victory and won the Ukrainian championship for the first time.

The bottom of the table was relegated directly to the Perscha Liha . In a relegation game, Polihraftechnika Oleksandrija secured the league's whereabouts against the fourth of the Perscha Liha, Polissja Schytomyr .
