The Slavutych Arena is a football stadium in Zaporizhia , Ukraine . It has space for 11,983 spectators and serves as the home of the Metalurh Zaporizhzhya association . Due to the crisis in Ukraine, the Zorya Luhansk club has been temporarily using the arena as a venue since the 2014/15 season.
The Slavutych Arena in the southern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhia was built in 1937 and 1938. On May 2, 1938, the stadium was opened, which at that time was still called the Zaporizhia Central Stadium . It has only had its current name, Slavutytsch Arena , since a renovation in 2006. The Metalurh Zaporizhia club has played its home games here since the stadium was built. Metalurh currently plays in the second highest Ukrainian league, the Perscha Liha , after being relegated from the Premjer-Liha in the past season ( 2010/11 ) . The greatest success in the recent club history of Metalurh Zaporischschja, a founding member of the Premjer-Liha, was reaching the cup final in the 2006 season, but where Dynamo Kiev had to be defeated 0-1. In the 1950s, Metalurh Zaporizhia managed to win the cup competition of the Ukrainian Soviet Republic twice .
In 2010 the game for the Ukrainian Supercup took place in the Slavutytsch Arena , in which Shakhtar Donetsk won the title with a 7-1 win against Tavrija Simferopol . In addition, the game for third place in the Ukrainian championship between Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and Shakhtar Donetsk took place in Zaporozhye in 1992 , which Dnejpro won.
