Wyschtscha Liha 2007/08

The Premjer-Liha 2008/09 ( Ukrainian Прем'єр-ліга ) was the 18th edition of the highest Ukrainian league in football . With this season the former Wyschtscha Liha got the new name Premjer-Liha . It started on July 16, 2008 with a goalless draw between Tavriya Simferopol and Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and ended on May 26, 2009.

The defending champion was Shakhtar Donetsk . Naftowyk-Ukrnafta and FK Sakarpattja Uschhorod, who were relegated from last season, were replaced by the newly promoted Illitschivets Mariupol and FK Lviv .

Sixteen teams played against each other twice on a total of 30 game days, divided into a round two. Dynamo Kiev secured their thirteenth championship in front of defending champions Shakhtar Donetsk.
