The club, which has been owned by the Ukrainian millionaire Wadym Rabinowytsch since July 2009 , got out of regular gaming operations on October 30, 2013 and filed for bankruptcy . The Arsenal team, re-established in 2001, went bankrupt in late 2013, but the club was soon reformed and initially played as an amateur team in the Kiev City League competition. Ominous deaths
Arsenal Kiev hit the headlines when two players were unexpectedly killed in early 2004: After the 23-year-old Georgian international Shalva Apchasawa died of a heart attack in his apartment in January , the 18-year-old youngster Andrij Pawizki broke during training for unknown reasons together and died too. These two deaths were two major setbacks for the club, which was already in financial difficulties - the city administration, which owned numerous sports participations, tried to get rid of them. For these reasons, FC Arsenal Kiev had to struggle financially in the last few years of its existence; to get more money, many players were loaned out.
