FC Jokerit
The FC Jokerit is a former Finnish football club from Helsinki . It existed from 1999 to 2004, won the Finnish Cup in 1999 and became Finnish runner-up in 2000.
history
FC Jokerit was founded in 1999 after the businessman Hjallis Harkimo took over the professional division and the associated first division license of the Pallokerho-35 Helsinki (PK-35) club. PK-35 was promoted to the top division of Finland, the Veikkausliiga , in 1998, where it took 3rd place in the 1998 season. Hjallis Harkimo, who took over the ice hockey club Jokerit in 1991 , called the club FC Jokerit from 1999.
In the first year under this name, the team finished 4th in the Veikkausliiga and won the Finnish Cup by beating FF Jaro 2-1 in the final . In the Intertoto Cup , FC Jokerit reached the third round after victories against JK Trans Narva and FC Floriana , where they were eliminated against West Ham United . The following year, Jokerit was second in the league and was also in the final of the league cup , which was lost 2-1 to Vaasan PS . In the UEFA Cup , the team failed to qualify at MTK Budapest .
In qualifying for the 2001/02 UEFA Cup , FC Jokerit was eliminated by Arsenal Kiev . The 2001 season of Veikkausliiga ended the team in penultimate place. After a defeat in the relegation against FF Jaro, they were relegated to the second-class Ykkönen . There succeeded in 2002 in the relegation of direct promotion to the top division, where they finished 10th in the 2003 season.
In early 2004, local rival HJK Helsinki took over FC Jokerit and made it his second team, which initially competed in the third-class Kakkonen under the name Klubi-04 .
