Alexei Eremenko junior ( Russian Алексей Алексеевич Ерёменко / Alexei Alexejewitsch Jerjomenko; born March 24, 1983 in Rostov-on-Don , Soviet Union ) is a Finnish football player of Russian descent .

Alexei Eremenko grew up in the Soviet Union, but moved to Finland with his family at the age of seven. The reason for this was the change of his father, Alexei Eremenko Sr., from Spartak Moscow to FF Jaro . In 2003, Eremenko Jr. received Finnish citizenship, but kept Russian. His brother Roman Eremenko is also a Finnish international. Alexei has played for FF Jaro since 2015.

Club career

Alexei Eremenko began his career at the end of the 1980s in the Soviet capital Moscow at the local FK Dynamo Moscow . He played there until 1990 before he emigrated with his family to Finland, where his father Alexei Eremenko senior accepted an offer from FF Jaro . In this same club Eremenko junior was active in the offspring until 1997 and was temporarily accommodated in 1995 on loan at Panathinaikos Athens in Greece . After moving to Norway to Tromsø IL in 1998 , a transfer back home followed shortly thereafter, where Eremenko spent 1999 in the youth department of HJK Helsinki . In the same year he came to France, where he was initially mainly used in the youth division of FC Metz , but also made seven league appearances for the B team across seasons.

After leaving the club in 2001, he returned to his new home in Finland and started his professional career there at FC Jokerit . In 2002 he moved to HJK Helsinki , where he became a regular player and completed 60 league games in two years, scoring ten goals. In the summer of 2004 he moved to Italy for US Lecce , but was unable to assert himself there and went to Russia in January 2006. There he spent a partially successful time and finally moved after 78 league appearances and six goals to the neighboring Ukraine, where he joined Metalist Kharkiv and then came on loan to Finland and Scotland. In 2011 he moved back to Russia with his brother; this time to Rubin Kazan . However, he only managed short assignments.

National team

He made his debut for the Finnish national team on October 11, 2003 in a game against Canada .
