history

The association was founded in 1965 as Vuosaaren Viikingit . In 1998 the football section was spun off under the name FC Viikingit.

From 2002 to 2006 the club played for the first time in the Ykkönen. In 2006, under Jari Europaeus , a former Finnish national player, he was promoted to the Veikkausliiga , the country's top division. But just a year later Viikingit was second to the bottom of the table in the relegation to the table runner-up of the Ykkönen , Rovaniemen Palloseura, and was relegated back to the Ykkönen. In the 2008 season, the team finished second and missed promotion to the top division due to a defeat in the relegation to Kuopion Palloseura . Also in the following seasons Viikingit reached places in the front of the Ykkönen.

In the 2014 season , FC Viikingit rose with just one win and three draws as bottom of the table in the third-class Kakkonen .
