Roman Eremenko ( Russian Рома́н Алексеевич Ерёменко / Roman Alexejewitsch Jerjomenko; born March 19, 1987 in Moscow ) is a Finnish football player born in Russia . The offensive midfielder , who can also act as a winger , has been playing for the Russian first division club FK Rostov since January 2019 .

Career

Roman Eremenko moved to Finland with his family at the age of three when his father Alexei Eremenko sr. moved there to play for FF Jaro . In 2003 he received Finnish citizenship, but still has Russian citizenship . He is the younger brother of Alexei Eremenko , who currently plays for FF Jaro.

He made his professional debut in 2004 at the age of 17 for FF Jaro. In 2005 he was one of the key players on the team. In 2006 he moved to Udinese Calcio . In the first half of the 2006/07 season he only made six appearances, so he was initially awarded to AC Siena for the second half of the season . In 2007 he extended his contract with Udinese until 2012. But even in his second year with Udinese he was mostly just bench press. In 2008 he was awarded again, this time to Dynamo Kiev , where he was able to gain a regular place. Kiev then took him under contract from the 2009/10 season. After three years with the Russian first division club Rubin Kazan , he moved to last year's champions PFK ZSKA Moscow for the 2014/15 season .

After Eremenko tested positive for cocaine after the Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen on November 14, 2016 , he was banned for two years. On July 21, 2017, the CAS confirmed the ban after Eremenko's objection.

For the Finnish national team , he has made 73 international appearances to date, scoring five goals.
