Iwelin Iwanow Popov ( Bulgarian Ивелин Иванов Попов ; English transcription Ivelin Ivanov Popov ; born October 26, 1987 in Sofia ) is a Bulgarian football player .

Career

In his youth, Popov was trained at Club FC Septemwri Sofia. He moved to Levski Sofia in 2004 and a year later he was active in the youth team of Feyenoord Rotterdam before playing for Litex Lovetsch for five years until 2010 . From 2010 to 2012 he worked for the Turkish first division club Gaziantepspor for two years .

For the 2012/13 season he moved to FK Kuban Krasnodar . In the course of the expansion of the squad after winning the Champions League , the German record champions FC Bayern Munich are said to have been very interested in the commitment of Popov for the 2013/14 season, which helped the young Bulgarian international to gain media coverage in Germany .
