Premjer League 2011/12

The Premjer League 2012/13 was the 21st season of the top Russian league in football. It started on July 20, 2012 with the game Mordowija Saransk against Lokomotiv Moscow and ended on May 26, 2013. From December 13, 2012 to March 10, 2013 it was interrupted by the winter break.

The 16 teams played against each other twice on a total of 30 match days, divided into a first and a second round. The last two clubs were relegated directly. The third and fourth last played in the relegation against relegation.

Starting this season, a team can have seven foreign (non-Russian) players on the field at the same time, unlike in the previous season, when the limit was six foreigners per team. The new rule applies until 2017.

Before the season

Zenit Saint Petersburg started the season as the defending champion . Mordowija Saransk and Alania Wladikawkas replaced the two relegated members of the previous season Tom Tomsk and Spartak Nalchik .
