Ahmed Musa (born October 14, 1992 in Jos ) is a Nigerian football player on the position of striker . He is under contract with al-Nasr . He won the Africa Cup in 2013 with the Nigerian national team and is the current record goal scorer in his country.

Career

He came to VVV-Venlo from Kano Pillars FC . In 2009/10 he scored 18 goals for the club in the Nigerian Premier League . In the preseason he had played on loan for Jos UTH in his hometown. In the summer of 2010, Musa moved to the Dutch Eredivisie for VVV-Venlo , where he scored eight goals in 37 league games. On January 7, 2012, the Russian Premier League club PFK CSKA Moscow announced the commitment of the striker. He made his first game for Moscow on February 21, 2012 in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Real Madrid in front of 70,000 fans in Luzhniki Stadium and was substituted after 63 minutes, the game ended 1-1. He made his league debut on March 3, 2012 in a 2-2 draw against Zenit St. Petersburg . He scored the goal to make it 2-2. In July 2016, Musa joined the English first division club Leicester City . He received a four-year contract. On January 30, 2018, Musa returned to CSKA Moscow on loan.

On August 4, 2018, he moved to Al-Nasr .

International

In 2010 Musa made his debut in the Nigerian national team , the so-called "Super Eagles". He was part of the Nigerian squad at his first major tournament, the 2013 African Championship . In the semi-final game, the 4-1 win against Mali , Musa scored the 4-0. Subsequently, the Nigerians were able to defeat Burkina Faso 1-0 in the final .

In the 2014 FIFA World Cup , he was a regular in the squad called. In the third group game against Argentina , Musa scored two goals, securing the Nigerians a ticket to the round of 16. Musa and his team were eliminated 2-0 against France in the round of 16. Four years later, at the 2018 World Cup , Musa was also part of the Nigerian squad and scored two goals in a 2-0 win in the second round match against Iceland . He was then named Man of the Match .

With the goal to 2-0 against Iceland, Musa advanced to become his country's record scorer.
