The Perwenstwo FNL 2011/12 was the 20th season of the second highest Russian league in football. The season was a transitional season, in which there was a change from hosting in one calendar year to the late to early summer mode customary in UEFA , and lasted more than a year (April 4, 2011– May 27, 2012). The usual double championship round in 2011 was followed by a phase with championship and relegation group in spring 2012. The fall-spring mode has been played since the 2012/13 season .
mode
After 38 games, the league was divided into two groups. The best eight clubs played in the championship round in a further 14 games for promotion, while the teams from 9th place fought against relegation in an additional seven games.
The two best clubs were promoted directly to the 2012/13 Premjer League , while the third and fourth were promoted through relegation. The last four teams of the relegation round had to play in the 2nd division in the following season .
Before the season
The five zone winners of the 2nd division were promoted to the 1st division. With the rise of FK Krasnodar , who took the place of Saturn Ramenskoye, the fourth of the middle zone (Fakel Voronezh) was also included in the Pervenstvo FNL.
