Premjer League 2009

The Premjer League 2010 was the 19th season of the Russian top division in football. It began on March 14, 2010 and ended on November 28, 2010. Because of the 2010 World Cup , the championship had to be interrupted between the 11th and 12th matchday from May 15th to July 8th. Russian champion became Zenit Saint Petersburg .

mode

The 16 teams played against each other twice on a total of 30 match days, divided into a first and a second round. The last two clubs were relegated.

Before the season

As last year, Rubin Kazan will start the season as defending champion . Anzhi Makhachkala and FK Sibir Novosibirsk replace the two relegated FK Kuban Krasnodar and FK Chimki . The FK Moscow withdrew voluntarily from the Premjer league back. As a replacement for Moscow, the third of the 1st football division 2009 Alania Wladikawkas was included in the Premjer League.

    After the season

    In addition to the champions Zenit St. Petersburg , the runner-up CSKA Moscow also took part in the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League . Rubin Kazan started in the 3rd qualifying round for this competition. Spartak Moscow and Lokomotiv Moscow took part in the 2010/11 UEFA Europa League play-offs . Newcomer and relegated Alania Wladikawkas qualified as a cup finalist for the third qualifying round of the Europa League, as cup winners CSKA Moscow had already registered for the Champions League.

    Kuban Krasnodar and Volga Nizhny Novgorod were allowed to participate in the Premjer League in 2011/12, as they took the first two places in the 1st division in 2010. In contrast, Saturn Ramenskoye had to leave the Premjer League due to massive debts. The fifth of the 1st division FK Krasnodar took the place .
