In Budapest he received his first professional contract. With Ferencváros he won the Hungarian Cup in 2003 and was Hungarian champion in the 2003/04 season . From February to June 2004 he was loaned to FC Sopron and played his first international match during this time.

In 2005 he moved to FC Metz in the French Ligue 1 . In the following season he played 18 games and scored one goal; the club was relegated because of license withdrawal but in the Ligue 2 from.

After relegation, Huszti moved to Hannover 96 . In the DFB Cup against Dynamo Dresden , he was able to convert a corner directly. On November 8, 2006, he scored the 1-0 winning goal for Hannover 96's first Bundesliga win at Bayern Munich . In addition, Huszti ensured a 1-0 home game against Bayern Munich with a directly converted free kick on September 27, 2008.

On February 1, 2009, Huszti moved to Zenit Saint Petersburg . On February 18, 2009 he made his debut for the Russian club at the UEFA Cup game against VfB Stuttgart and scored his first goal in the second minute. In the 2010 season he won the Russian championship with the club .

Return to Hannover 96 (2012-2014)

In July 2012 Huszti returned to his old club Hannover 96 . He signed a three-year contract until June 30, 2015 and was number 10 in the squad of coach Mirko Slomka . In his second Bundesliga game, Huszti prepared all the goals in the 4-0 win against VfL Wolfsburg and then became a “player of the Matchdays "selected.

In the following Bundesliga match against Werder Bremen, he was again involved in all of his club's goals by scoring two goals and preparing another. After his 3-2 winning goal in stoppage time, he received one of the strangest dismissals in Bundesliga history: because he took off his jersey and climbed the fence of the fan block at the same time, referee Aytekin showed him the yellow-red card. As in the previous week, Huszti was voted “Player of the Matchday”. The appeal of 96 against the yellow-red card was rejected by the DFB arbitration court, so it was suspended on the 4th match day. On the 5th day of the match, Huszti was involved in three of four 96 goals and thus became the top scorer (3 goals, 7 assists) in the league; he was also voted player of the match day again.

Huszti suffered a torn hamstring from a penalty in a 5-1 win against Hamburger SV on February 23, 2013 and was absent until the end of the season. Although he was only able to play 21 games, he finished ninth in the Bundesliga scorer table with 18 scorer points (nine goals, nine assists).

Changchun Yatai (2014-2015)

In July 2014, Huszti moved to the Chinese club Changchun Yatai . In his first season for Changchun, he scored three goals in 14 games and set up five more.

Intermezzos at Eintracht Frankfurt and again Changchun Yatai (2016-2017)

On December 30, 2015, Eintracht Frankfurt confirmed Huszti's commitment. Huszti signed a one-and-a-half year contract until June 30, 2017. This was terminated at the beginning of 2017 after Huszti had received a lucrative offer from his ex-club Changchun Yatai, so that he could accept it. Huszti scored a total of only three goals for Eintracht, but they were relatively important ones, including the 1: 1 in the 2-2 draw against FC Bayern in October 2016. In this game, he also flew in the 65th minute after an unsportsmanlike behavior a yellow-red card from the square.

Return to Hungary and end of career (2018-2020)

After a year-long stint at Changchun Yatai , the Hungarian first division club Videoton FC announced Huszti's commitment on January 11, 2018. There he was able to celebrate the Hungarian Championship at the end of the season .

After preparing nine goals in 27 league appearances in the following season (2018/19) and scoring five himself, as well as becoming a cup winner with Videoton (2-1 in the final against Honvéd Budapest ), he sustained a serious knee injury in autumn 2019 was canceled for the rest of the 2019/20 season. At the end of June 2020, Huszti announced the end of his football career at the age of 37.

National team

Huszti made his debut in the national team under the then coach Lothar Matthäus on April 25, 2004 against Japan , which Hungary won 3-2. With a converted penalty in the last minute, he scored the winning goal for Hungary.

During the European Championship qualification there was an argument with the coach Péter Várhidi in the training camp . Huszti left the training camp and was then suspended from the Hungarian national team until the end of 2007. The reason for this argument was that he was no longer a regular player for the time being. However, he immediately returned to the squad for the friendly against Slovakia on February 6, 2008 after the turn of the year and played from the start.

On September 9, 2010, he announced his resignation from the national team. After the Euro 2012 qualifier against the Republic of Moldova , an open letter appeared from him in which he justified his resignation. In it he stated, among other things, that he wanted to concentrate even more on his club career in the future, and also that he did not like the atmosphere in the team.
