The FK Moscow ( Russian Футбольный клуб Москва , Futbolny Klub Moskwa ) was a football club from the Russian capital Moscow . He played in the Premjer League from 2001 to 2009 .

The club played its home games in the Eduard Strelzow Stadium .

history

The club was founded in 1997 and had the following names:

  • Torpedo-SIL (1997-2002)
  • Torpedo Metallurgist (2003-2004)
  • FK Moscow (since 2004)

The club was founded as Torpedo by the SIL automotive group after the group had sold its eponymous team, which is still called Torpedo Moscow today, in the early 1990s . Therefore, until 2004 there were two Moscow teams in the Premjer League with the name Torpedo, which can only be distinguished by the addition of the name SIL or Metallurg . In 2003 , SIL sold the team to a metal company, so that the suffix SIL was replaced by Metallurg . After another sale, this time to the city of Moscow, the team finally became FK Moscow in the summer of 2004 .

For the 2010 season, the club withdrew from the top Russian league due to a lack of funds. On December 28, 2010 the dissolution of the club was announced.
