The Gambrinus League 2009/10 was the 17th season of the top Czech league in football . It took place from July 25, 2009 to May 23, 2010 with a winter break from November 23, 2009 to February 19, 2010.
16 teams played against each other twice on a total of 30 match days, divided into a first half and a second half. From the 2. League 2008/09 Bohemians 1905 Prague and 1. FC Slovácko were promoted , which had replaced the two relegated FC Tescoma Zlín and FK Viktoria Žižkov .
The Czech Sparta Prague qualified for the qualification for the UEFA Champions League 2010/11 . Second-placed FK Baumit Jablonec and third-placed FC Baník Ostrava qualified for qualification for the 2010/11 UEFA Europa League . Cup winner Viktoria Plzen also takes part in qualifying for the Europa League. FK Bohemians Prague and SK Kladno were relegated to the Druhá fotbalová liga .
The bottom of the table, FK Bohemians Prague, was initially deducted 20 points during the season for disregarding the football association, violating the association rules and distorting competition. The penalty was subsequently reduced to 15 points.
