Václav Kadlec (born May 20, 1992 in Prague ) is a former Czech football player . The striker made 17 caps for the Czech senior team and played most of his career at Sparta Prague .

society

Václav Kadlec started playing football at the age of five at Bohemians Prague . The youth coaches quickly noticed the talent of the striker , who consequently played an age or two above his own. At the age of 15, Kadlec was already playing in the A-Juniors . After graduating from school in summer 2008, Bohemians offered him a professional contract. Kadlec refused and instead signed with Sparta Prague for three years , which paid a transfer fee of around ten million kroner. At that time, Kadlec was considered the greatest talent in the Czech Republic since Tomáš Rosický.

Although Kadlec was immediately taken over into the squad of the A-team, he was used at the beginning of the 2008/09 season in the B-team, which played in the 2nd division . The attacker made his first competitive appearance for the A team on September 3, 2008 in the second round of the Czech Cup. He scored his first goal for Sparta in the 3-0 win against TJ Dvůr Králové nad Labem. On October 25, 2008, Kadlec made his debut in the Gambrinus League .

The then 16-year-old Kadlec scored his first goal in the Gambrinus Liga on May 4, 2009 when his team beat Baník Ostrava 1-0 .

For the 2013/14 season , Kadlec moved to the German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt . In his first season, Kadlec scored five goals in 21 Bundesliga games and prepared four more goals. In the preliminary round he was mostly in the starting line-up. He also scored two goals in the UEFA Europa League and one in the DFB Cup . In the second half of the season, the coach Armin Veh preferred the competitor Joselu as a striker, so that Kadlec stayed mainly as a substitute. In mid-February 2015, Kadlec was loaned to his former club Sparta Prague until the end of the season .

On January 1, 2016, Kadlec moved to FC Midtjylland . In August 2016 he returned to Sparta Prague. With the transfer fee of 2.7 million euros indicated in the media, it was the most expensive transfer of the Czech top division up to that point.

In February 2020, at the age of 27, he ended his football career due to troublesome knee problems.

National team

Kadlec made his debut in the Czech U17 team on August 29, 2007 , for which the striker scored 18 goals in 26 games between 2007 and 2009. Previously, in April 2008, he had played two games for the U16 team . In 2009 Kadlec played in the Czech U18 team , in 2010 in the U19 team . For the U21 he made 14 appearances with 7 goals from 2010 to 2015.

On October 12, 2010, Kadlec made his debut in the Czech senior team . In the 2-0 away win against Liechtenstein , he scored the Czechs' second goal, making him the youngest scorer in the history of the Czech national team. Kadlec played his last international match in October 2017. In total, he scored 4 goals in 17 international matches.
