For the 2008/09 season he rose to the B-team and made his debut on May 9, 2009 against UD Las Palmas in the first team, which was playing in the Segunda División at that time .
In the summer of 2009 Real Madrid signed the striker for the second team Castilla , but loaned him to Celta for another season. This season Joselu made 24 appearances and four hits in the second Spanish division. On May 21, 2011, the last matchday of the 2010/11 season , Joselu made his debut with the professionals of Real Madrid as part of the 8-1 win over UD Almería and scored his first goal for Real after assisting Cristiano Ronaldo . With Real Madrid Castilla he was promoted to the Segunda División in 2011/12 and was the top scorer in Group I of the Segunda División B with 19 goals . In the promotion and final play-offs, he scored seven more goals for his team.
For the 2012/13 season , Joselu moved to Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim with a contract that was valid until June 30, 2016. In the 3-3 draw, the Spaniard scored two of the three Frankfurt goals. He scored his first Europa League goal on February 20, 2014 in the round of 16 against FC Porto . There he met the 1: 2 connecting goal.
