UD Almería (officially: Unión Deportiva Almería SAD ) - but mostly just called El Almería - is a Spanish football club from the city of the same name, Almería , Andalusia region . The club currently plays in the Segunda División . In the all-time table of the Primera División, the club is in 39th place.
history
The club was founded on July 26, 1989 as Almería Club de Fútbol , the predecessor club is AD Almería . The early origins, however, go back to after 1909. In 2001 the name was changed to the current one. In the 2006/07 season , the club rose to the Primera División for the first time and finished the season in 8th place. A year later, Almería achieved one of its greatest successes at national level by reaching the semi-finals in the Copa del Rey . 2011 Almería rose from bottom of the table in the Segunda División . In 2013, after two years, the club was promoted to the Primera División, and since 2014 the club has been back in the Segunda División.
