CF Fuenlabrada is a Spanish football club from Fuenlabrada in the Madrid metropolitan area . The club currently plays in the Segunda División .

history

The association was created in 1975 through the merger of CF San Esteban, founded in 1971, and Agrupación Deportiva Fuenlabrada, founded in 1974 . The club then played under its first president, Juan Francisco Polidura, at the La Aldehuela stadium . The club played at the beginning in the regional leagues, played thanks to the economic boom and higher and made promotion to the Tercera División in the 1985/86 season .

After the club first landed in the back of the table, the club invested in its players and was able to keep improving. In the 1989/90 season, the club was second, but failed in the promotion games to CD Móstoles . In the following years, the club reached top positions, but could not prevail in the promotion games. In the 1993/94 season, the club finally made it to the Segunda División B as the league leader in the regular season and in the promotion games .

Fuenlabrada could hold for seven years in the Segunda División B, the best result was a sixth place in the 1996/97 season. After relegation, the club played 2 seasons in the Madrid group of the Tercera División . In the 2002/03 season, the club managed to rise as third in the table by beating Rápido de Bouzas in the promotion games . The club then played five more years in the Segunda Division B until he was relegated in 2008.

On September 1, 2011, a new stadium was inaugurated, the Estadio Fernando Torres , which offers space for 2000 spectators. In the 2011/12 season, the club returned to the Segunda División B. In the promotion games he lost to CD Marino , but was able to defeat his other two opponents and thus made the promotion. Since then, Fuenlabrada has played in the Segunda División B.

In season 2018/19 it managed as a table first of Segunda Division B in the ascent games against Recreativo Huelva 1 in the second leg move up to the: a 3: 0 win in the first leg and a 1 Segunda División .

In the 2017/18 Copa del Rey , Fuenlabrada made it to the round of 32, where they were eliminated after a loss and a draw with Real Madrid .

The stadium in which CF Fuenlabrada plays its home games is the Estadio Fernando Torres with 2000 seats and natural grass. The stadium is located in Ciudad Deportiva Oeste (Sports City East). The stadium was inaugurated on September 1, 2011 with a game against Atlético Madrid . The stadium was named after the internationally known football player Fernando Torres , who was born in Fuenlabrada .

From 1975 to 2011, the club played in the La Aldehuela stadium , which is still used today for the club's training and matches with other clubs.
