history

Deportivo La Coruña versus CD Lugo

The CD Lugo was founded in June 1953 by the merger of the two competing clubs "Sociedad Gimnástica Lucense", which played in the Segunda División and was then dissolved, as well as the "Club Deportivo Polvorín", which failed due to financial problems.

The only second division season of the club, which was merged in 1953, was the 1992/93 season until 2012. Third from bottom, the Galicians had to return to Segunda División B in their first season .

After relegation, Lugo developed into an elevator team between the Segunda División B and Tercera División . In the 2011/12 season, the club managed to return to the Segunda División after 19 years .

Stadion

CD Lugo plays in the Estadio Anxo Carro , which has a capacity of 4,800 spectators. The stadium opened on August 31, 1974 in a tournament between hosts CD Lugo and Galician rivals Deportivo La Coruña and CD Lemos .
