The Tercera División (Spanish for Third Division / League ) after the Primera División , the Segunda División and the Segunda División B , the fourth-highest division in Spanish football . The league is run by the Real Federación Española de Fútbol . Until Segunda B was founded in 1977, the Tercera División was, according to its name, the third Spanish division.

In each of the 18 groups, 20 teams play one home and one away game against each other.

The four best clubs in each group play relegation games against each other. The second teams of a club cannot be promoted if the first team is in the league above. The last four teams in each group are relegated to a regional league. If the first team of a club is relegated, the second team of that team will automatically be relegated, provided they are in the league to which the first team is relegated.
