The Unión Deportiva Salamanca SAD was a Spanish football club from the city of Salamanca . Most recently the club played in the Segunda División .

history

The association was founded on February 9, 1923 under the name Unión Deportiva Española . The club has been called Unión Deportiva Salamanca since January 16, 1932. In 1974, promotion to the Primera División was achieved for the first time , where, headed by coach José Luis García Traid , remained until 1981. This is also the club's most successful era. The club played a total of twelve seasons in the top Spanish league, most recently in 1998/99 . On June 18, 2013, after a creditors' meeting, the association announced its dissolution due to ongoing financial difficulties. The club's debts amounted to 23 million euros at the time of its dissolution.
