The Club Deportivo Lagun Onak is a Spanish football club from Azpeitia in the Basque Autonomous Community . The club was founded in 1944 and plays its home games at the Estadio Garmendipe , which has space for 3000 spectators.

history

The club was founded in 1944 and initially played for a long time in the Basque regional leagues of Gipuzkoa . In the 1974/75 season they managed for the first time promotion to the Tercera División , which at the time was still the third Spanish division. This also made it possible to qualify for the first time for the national cup competition, the Copa del Generalísimo , which was last held under this name, since the dictator Franco died in the same year . The club was only able to hold on to the third division for two seasons and was relegated to the regional league for a year, where they were promoted again directly. Only in the 1980/81 season could one earn a place in the top five in the Tercera División and in 1983 rose again for a long time in the lower class divisions. Since the 2002/03 season they have been playing in the fourth division without interruption and were able to become champions for the first time in their group in the 2008/09 season and qualify for the Copa del Rey again after a long time. The promotion to the Segunda División B was missed in the first round of the play-offs against Gimnástica de Torrelavega .
