Fuenlabrada is a city in Spain . It is located in the autonomous community of Madrid and in the metropolitan area of Madrid , about 20 km south of the Spanish capital. The city has 193,700 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) and a very young population structure. Like the urban system south of Madrid, Fuenlabrada has grown rapidly since the 1970s and has grown from a village of 2,000 to a satellite city. In Fuenlabrada there is a campus of the University of Rey Juan Carlos .
history
The place name Fuenlabrada is derived from the Spanish fuente labrada (roughly edited source ). The oldest evidence of the village, which was founded in the 14th century, is a list of prices for wheat, flour and bread from 1571.
In the 1940s the place had just under 2,800 inhabitants, in 1985 the place had grown into a large city with 117,000 inhabitants.

Fuenlabrada has two stations on the C-5 of the Cercanías Madrid, Fuenlabrada and La Serna . At the Fuenlabrada train station you can change to Fuenlabrada Central on line 12 of the Madrid Metro , which opened in 2003 and which in Fuenlabrada serves four other stops in Fuenlabrada with Loranca , Hospital de Fuenlabrada , Parque Europa and Parque de los Estados .
Sports
The basketball club Baloncesto Fuenlabrada has been an integral part of the ACB league , the highest Spanish basketball league , for years . The football club CF Fuenlabrada will appear in the second-rate Segunda División for the first time in the 2019/20 season .
