Torrelodones is a suburb of Madrid .

geography

In the north the place borders on Hoyo de Manzanares , in the south on Las Rozas de Madrid , in the east on Madrid. It is located on the foothills of the Sierra de Guadarrama . The area is alluvial soil and granite rock encountered.

The Trofa mountain stream, a right tributary of the Manzanares, flows nearby .

history

The early history took place without any local features. The construction of a Herrera-style room for Philip II by Juan de Herrera has been handed down from the 16th century . In 1728 the name city came up. Fernando Fernández de Córdova captured the same in 1826 . The Battle of Brunete took place south of the village in 1937.

The place has seen a strong increase in population in the last few decades, mainly caused by newcomers from Madrid in the wake of the Spanish property boom. About 10% of the population are migrants who come mainly from Eastern and Southern Europe and from South America.

politics

In the last elections, the Partido Popular received the most votes.

The coat of arms, introduced in 1979, shows the historic watch tower, the yellow sash refers to an earlier local manor.

Town partnerships exist with Grodzisk Wielkopolski , Betton , Merksplas , Delligsen and Barberino di Mugello .

Economy and Infrastructure

The place is on the Autovía A-6 .

Today the most important fields of employment for the residents are service, administration, trade and handicraft.
