Tres Cantos is a Spanish municipality in the Community of Madrid . It is located 23 km north of downtown Madrid and has a population of 47,722 (as of January 1, 2019).

Especially parks and trees, as well as wide avenues determine the appearance. Almost the entire road ring, which is formed by Avenida de Viñuelas, Avenida de los Artisanos, Avenida de Colmenar Viejo and Avenida de los Encuartes, is laid out like a promenade . In the north (Avenida de Colmenar Viejo) and in the south (Avenida de Viñuelas) there are several restaurants and cafes.

development

Tres Cantos is a comparatively young city. The beginning can be traced back to 1971, when the plan was made to develop new cities in the area of Madrid, which resulted in the establishment of Tres Cantos SA in 1976. Construction began in 1980 and the first residents moved to the new settlement in 1982. Initially, Tres Cantos was a district of Colmenar Viejo , but has only been independent since March 3, 1991. The development can be divided into three phases: the first phase comprises the northern residential areas (Avenida Colmenar Viejo), the second phase the residential areas in the south (Avenida de las Viñuelas). The third phase is currently under development; it will follow on from the first phase in the north. The construction work has already started. After completion of this plan, Tres Cantos should have a population of around 60,000.

Connection

To the west of Tres Cantos is the M-607 road that connects Colmenar Viejo with Madrid . The tracks for the Cercanías Madrid , the Madrid S-Bahn that connects Tres Cantos with Madrid with the C4 line, run parallel to this street . There are also some suburban bus lines ( Interurbanos ): 712, 713, 716, 717 connect Tres Cantos with Plaza Castilla in Madrid, line 723 goes from Tres Cantos to Colmenar Viejo and line 827 takes you from Tres Cantos Cantoblanco University , Alcobendas , San Sebastián de los Reyes , Barajas Airport and the Barajas and Canillejas neighborhoods of Madrid .

economy

The city includes the Technology Park of Madrid (Parque Tecnológico de Madrid) and an industrial area. Some companies are represented there with their Spanish branches, such as Beiersdorf ( Nivea ), Hella , Siemens , Danone , Merck and GlaxoSmithKline .
