Parla is a city in the metropolitan area of Madrid in Spain . It is located about 20 km south of the capital at an altitude of 648 msnm and belongs to the autonomous region of Madrid . The city area covers 24.43 km², the population is 130,124 (as of January 1, 2019).
Neighboring communities are Fuenlabrada in the north , Torrejón de Velasco and Torrejón de la Calzada in the south, Pinto in the east and Griñón and Humanes in the west .
history
Parla was first mentioned in 1338 and received city rights in the 19th century. At the beginning of the 20th century Parla was still a small town with 1,237 inhabitants, but has developed into a commuter community in Madrid, especially since the 1960s. In 1970 10,317 people lived here, 56,318 in 1981 and 125,000 in 2014; this makes Parla one of the fastest growing cities in Spain.

There is a bullring in the northeast of the city.
Transport links
Parla has had a modern tram line since May 2007 , which connects all important points in the city as a ring line . It is one of two tram systems in the Madrid region , alongside the Madrid light rail .
There is a connection to the Spanish railway network via the S-Bahn line C 4, and Madrid-Atocha train station can be reached in around 25 minutes.
The city is on the A-42 Madrid-Toledo motorway.
