Barberino di Mugello is an Italian commune with 11,003 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the metropolitan city of Florence in the Tuscany region .
geography
The community extends over about 134 km². It is located around 25 km north of the provincial and regional capital of Florence in the Mugello . The Sieve rises in the southern municipality .
The districts include Cavallina, Galliano, Làtera and Montecarelli.
The neighboring municipalities are Calenzano , Cantagallo ( PO ), Castiglione dei Pepoli ( BO ), Firenzuola , Scarperia e San Piero , Vaiano (PO) and Vernio (PO).
history
A series of earthquakes on December 8 and 9, 2019, the strongest of which had a magnitude of 4.8 m b , caused damage to the village, affecting the town hall and the parish church of San Silvestro, among others.
