Figline e Incisa Valdarno is an Italian commune with 23,434 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the metropolitan city of Florence in the Tuscany region .
geography
Figline e Incisa Valdarno is about 20 km southeast of the provincial and regional capital of Florence . The municipality is located in the landscape of the Valdarno superiore (upper Arno valley) on the Arno and in the diocese of Fiesole . The Chianti area is located directly west of the municipality.
The neighboring municipalities are Castelfranco Piandiscò ( AR ), Cavriglia (AR), Greve in Chianti , Reggello , Rignano sull'Arno and San Giovanni Valdarno (AR).
history
The municipality was created on January 1, 2014 by merging the previously independent municipalities Figline Valdarno and Incisa in Val d'Arno . In the referendum on April 21 and 22, 2013, 70.05% (30.10% voter turnout) in Figline Valdarno voted in favor of the union, in Incisa in Val d'Arno 71.55% (38.19% turnout). The law merging the two municipalities is Legge Regionale n.31 of June 18, 2013. The town hall is located in Incisa in Val d'Arno.
