Laurenzana is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1681 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Potenza in Basilicata . The municipality is located about 24.5 kilometers southeast of Potenza . In the very north-east of the municipality lies the southern shore of Lake Ponte Fontanelle .
The railway line from Potenza to Laurenzana has been closed since 1980. The Strada Statale 92 dell'Appennino Meridionale runs through the municipality from Potenza to Villapiana .
