Sant'Angelo Le Fratte is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1376 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Potenza in Basilicata . It borders the municipalities of Savoia di Lucania , Brienza , Tito and Sasso di Castalda as well as the province of Salerno ( Campania ) with the municipalities of Caggiano and Polla . Sant'Angelo Le Fratte is part of the Comunità montana Melandro .

history

From 1430 to 1818 Sant'Angelo Le Fratte was the seat of the diocese of Satriano . In 1980 the city was badly affected by an earthquake ( terremoto dell'Irpinia ). The damage has been completely repaired today.

The city coat of arms consists of a blue shield on which the image of the winged Archangel Michael can be seen. He is holding a sword in his hand which he has turned against the devil who lies at his feet.
