Grumento Nova

Grumento Nova is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1654 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Potenza in Basilicata . The municipality is located about 39.5 kilometers south-southeast of Potenza and belongs to the Comunità Montana Alto Agri . Until 1932 the community was still called Saponara di Grumento . To the east lies part of Lake Pietra del Pertusillo .

In 954 the community was founded under the name Saponara .
