Pietragalla is a municipality in Italy in the province of Potenza in the Basilicata region . It has 3992 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) on an area of 65 km².

Pietragalla is located 20 km northwest of Potenza . The neighboring municipalities are Acerenza , Avigliano , Cancellara , Forenza , Potenza and Vaglio Basilicata .

Attractions

The main church of Pietragalla is dedicated to Saint Nicholas of Bari . The three-nave church was built at the beginning of the 13th century. It got its current appearance between 1712 and 1750. Under the altar are relics of St. Theodosius , the patron saint of Pietragalla. There is also a ducal palace from the 15th century and a small agricultural museum.
