Castelsaraceno is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1271 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Potenza in Basilicata . The municipality is located about 55.5 kilometers north-northwest of Potenza and belongs to the Comunità montana Lagonegrese .
history
In 1031 the village was built by the Saracens on the site of the ancient Planura . The settlement was abandoned after an earthquake.
