Anzi is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1597 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Potenza in Basilicata . The municipality is located about 16.5 kilometers southeast of Potenza . In the northeast is the Lago di Ponte Fontanelle .

history

Today's Anzi was known as Antium or Ansia (also Anxia ) in Roman antiquity .

Attractions

The large nativity scene by Anzi from 1994 is considered the fourth largest nativity scene installation in Europe. The Planetario Osservatorio Astronomico di Anzi includes an observatory and a planetarium , which is open to visitors and amateur astronomers.
