Planetario Osservatorio Astronomico di Anzi
The Planetario Osservatorio Astronomico di Anzi is located in Anzi , a municipality in the Basilicata region . The complex includes an observatory and a planetarium . It opened in August 2008 after a well-known medieval tower was demolished.
The astronomical complex is part of the Transnational Heritage Trail , an association of eight states in Southeast Europe , with which special natural and cultural heritage is promoted. The specialty of this facility is that it is the largest in the region and only accessible to amateur astronomers .

The facility is located immediately northwest of Anzi at about 1100 m slm on Monte Siri.
The planetarium
The dome of the planetarium has a diameter of 12 meters. A sophisticated light show makes it possible to observe the whole night sky. 4500 stars are visible. One can also activate some mechanisms to reproduce the birth of stars, the formation of a nebula, the supernova explosion and the galaxy of the solar system .
The observatory
The astronomical observatory has one of the most sophisticated telescopes in southern Italy, which makes it possible to observe special heavenly bodies. The observatory is managed by a group of experts recognized by ESA (European Space Agency). Events of international importance take place regularly, in which astronauts such as Paolo Nespoli , Umberto Guidoni , Luca Parmitano took part.
