Ruoti is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 3465 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Potenza in Basilicata . The municipality is located about 13 kilometers northwest of Potenza on the Avigliano . Ruoti is part of the Comunità Montana Marmo Platano .

history

In antiquity, the route from the Metapont into the Seletal led through what is now the municipality. In the Middle Ages, Ruoti was a fortification of the Longobards .
