Reciu ( German Rätsch , Hungarian Récse ) is a Romanian village in the Alba district in Transylvania . It is part of the municipality of Gârbova .
The place is also known under the former Romanian name Recea of the German Retsch and the Hungarian Szebenrécse .
location
Reciu lies between the foothills of the Mühlbacher Mountains ( Munții Șureanu ) and the Zibinsgebirge ( Munții Cindrel ) in the under forest . history
Various archaeological finds - the Vinča culture - show that the area was inhabited for a long time. South of the village, a Roman settlement was found during archaeological excavations.
Reciu was first mentioned in a document in 1309 under the name Resz . In 1330 Pleban Baldinius of "Resz" is mentioned, in 1332 and 1336 the pastor Nikolaus von Rätsch is mentioned in papal tax lists.
As everywhere in Transylvania, almost all of the Transylvanian Saxons left the place before and especially after the 1989 revolution to emigrate to Germany.
