The University of Rey Juan Carlos ( Spanish : Universidad Rey Juan Carlos ) - URJC - is a state university with around 35,877 students ( 2013 ) and locations in the Madrid suburbs of Móstoles , Alcorcón , Vicálvaro and Fuenlabrada .
Rey Juan Carlos University was founded in 1996 and is named after King Juan Carlos I of Spain . The motto of the university is " Non nova, sed nove " (German: Not new things, but a new way); The rector of the university is Javier Ramos López.
Cases of fraud
The courts have been investigating since 2017 because hundreds of false masters degrees were awarded. The head of the Madrid regional government, Cristina Cifuentes, had to resign because she had neither attended lectures nor passed exams for her master's degree.
